The Certificate in Social Work is a KNEC (Kenya National Examination Council) approved course and can be taken in class or by correspondence

  • Employees in Churches and Church related organizations
  • School leavers seeking jobs in Community Development with NGO's, CBO's and International organizations
  • Teachers and Local Authorities' employees
  • Students in other Universities/colleges who want to add their credentials

  • Duration:
    The course covers 3 modules divided into 3 trimesters of 3 months to cover each module. Students must take all the three modules, submit trade and entrepreneur projects and meet other KNEC requirements.
    Enrty Requirement:
    The Trainee should have the following minimum requirement:
    1. Passed relevant craft course
    2. K.C.S.E - D
    3. Equivalent qualification as determined by KNEC e.g Holder of a professional certificate in either community development, social work, Project planning & Management or a relevant field from a recognized Institution.

    2 passport size Photographs
    Original & Photocopy of National ID/Identification documents
    Any other supporting academic documents

    Examination:
    The Kenya National Examination Council will offer external examination. RIDS will offer Internal examination as coursework / continuous assessment and the statements of results issued as required by KNEC.
